Fernsgreenery cares about more than selling you your dream ‘rare’ plant. We want to help it grow and propagate, setting you and your plant up for success from the moment you browse an item.
How do I know if a plant is right for me?
Every listing includes information on ideal humidity, lighting, substrate, airflow, and temperature. Current growing conditions for the plant are also provided completely publicly. We do not just send a care card after you make a purchase — we let you know exactly what you need before spending a cent.
What do I get with my order (other than the plant)?
Every order, first and foremost, involves 100% compostable shipping materials, even including the tape used to seal packages. Fernsgreenery is dedicated to spreading a love for and understanding of the environment, and that includes reducing our carbon footprint. Furthermore, orders will include a conditions card describing where and how the plant has been growing, a care card explaining what a plant needs to thrive, and a cost breakdown card explaining why a plant was listed at a certain amount. This information can also all be found online with the listing. Lastly, the package will include cards about the Root System Refund and the Cover Adoption Fees features.
How does the ‘Root System Refund’ work?
Our Root System Refund allows a buyer to purchase a plant, provide monthly updates on its growth, take a cutting later on, root that cutting, and send it back for a complete refund. Since the customer keeps the original plant, they effectively have received it free of cost.
Why does Fernsgreenery provide a ‘Root System Refund’?
Since the customer returns a rooted plant of the same family, the Root System Refund has the same effect as a “return,” providing no profit for Fernsgreenery; but that is exactly the point! Beyond profit, Fernsgreenery is dedicated to the proliferation and accessibility of ‘rare’ plants. We want these plants to not only survive but thrive, spreading the joy of a hobby otherwise limited by socioeconomic status. The Root System Refund pushes us toward our mission.
What is the ‘Cover Adoption Fees’ feature?
Since we provide all information on the care requirements, a potential customer might appreciate a plant but cannot provide adequate conditions. The Cover Adoption Fees feature allows them to cover costs and help that plant find a home — as it will then be listed as completely free!
What is the ‘Champion Tier’?
The Champion Tier is an option during checkout to round up your purchase, as the excess will be donated to Fernsgreenery. These donations will directly fund operating costs, not private profit. This can look like more sustainable shipping materials, grow lights in the storage spaces, or even lower costs of all listings.
